The new law of drugs and its dilemmas: studying forms of inequalities within the interstices of the Brazilian legal-criminal order
Veríssimo, Marcos
Civitas , 2010,
Incidences and Occurences of Future Types of Victimization in Adolescents  [PDF]

Psychology (PSYCH) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2015.610122
Abstract: This paper aimed to describe the differences between lifetime and past-year victimizations, to investigate the correlations between the victimizations in two different moments (lifetime and in the past year), and to investigate the influence of lifetime victimization on the occurrence of past-year victimization. Participants were 426 students, aged between 12 to 18 years, from primary and secondary public schools in Goiania (Brazil). 54.2% (N = 231) were female and 45.8% (N = 195) were male. The mean age of participants was 13.87 years (SD = 1.33; Mean = 14 years). The results showed that lifetime victimizations tend to be higher than in the year before. The correlations between past-year and lifetime victimizations were significant and positive (p < 0.000), indicating that both follow the same direction, namely, increasing victimization at a given time coincides with increasing victimization at another time. It should also be noted that among all victimizations, peer victimization tends to achieve the highest probability of repetition (61.8%), followed by sexual victimization (55.6%), conventional crime (47.4%), witnessing (46.1%), and maltreatment (45.5%). The positive correlations and regressions indicate positive relationships between the type of victimization, and lifetime occurrences influence past-year occurrences. Therefore, investigating past-year victimization can be considered a good predictor of the next-year occurrence of victimization.

Abstract: adoption as a human experience is a universal phenomenon which has fulfilled different functions across history, reflecting the way societies view children and their needs, as well as their biological and adoptive parents. in europe and in america, as well as in other cultures, the family is considered the socio-emotional context where the child should develop. therefore adoption is the legal procedure which allows the child to have a family, when the biological family is not able to fulfill its role. in portugal the law has been reviewed in order to protect and defend the children’s rights. this study aims to analyze the characteristics of the adoptive families in the lisbon district. adoptive families are similar to biological families in different parameters, with the exception of the infertility and the years of marriage prior to the first child. the adopted child fulfills the expectations of the adoptive parents.

Abstract: studying the quality of attachment in adopted children is of great importance for the attachment theory allowing for an evaluation of the quality of attachment and its development in families that do not have the same genetic information nor do they share a familial history. the objec-tives of the current study are to evaluate if the child?s age at the time of adoption affects the quality of attachment established within the new family and if a relation-ship between the mother?s internal working model and the adopted child?s secure-?base behaviour exists. the aqs (waters, 1987) was used to examine the characterization of the quality of the mother-?child attachment relationship and the maternal narratives (h. waters & rodrigues-?doolabh, 2001) were used to access the mother?s internal working model. no significant correlation was found be-tween the child?s age and the quality of attachment suggesting that the child can establish meaningful relationships at 2, 3 and 4 years of age, thus stressing the importance of the presence of maternal sensitivity in the development of affec-tional ties. the results show that the quality of scripts of maternal secure base is associated with the criterion of security in children. thus, these results go hand in hand with ainsworth′s findings which emphasize the importance of maternal sensitivity in the construction of a secure attachment, and support one of the basic principles of the attachment theory, ?transgenerationality?, where the mother?s internal working model mediates the quality of childcare and interactions established with the child.

This article relates the processes of subjectivation, understood as always relational processes that generate diverse forms of sociability, to work in the solidarity economy. Initially, discussion will centre on the theoretical articulation between subjectivity and work. Then, the article problematises the difficulty of constructing self-management based on shared authority, drawing on empirical data recently gathered from solidarity economy enterprises of different sizes and from different sectors in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
Spatial Resilience of Outdoor Domestic Space in Mozambique Spatial Resilience of Outdoor Domestic Space in Mozambique

Abstract: Historically, the people of Mozambique have faced oppression and social spatial segregation and responded in a way that has reinforced rather than dismantled their traditional values. Since pre-colonial times, the population’s strategy for escaping from environmental and foreign political disruption has been to reinvent tradition, based on the principles of resilience, resistance and self-reliance. The development of decentralised human settlements, involving the appropriation of land for domestic space and the self-organisation of neighbourhoods, were strategies to protect communities from adversity and secure collective self-reliance. Following Mozambique’s conversion to globalization, the post-colonial ‘cement city’ is now the core of neo-liberalism, as a node of the global economy, where foreign donors and international market economy control national political economy, exacerbating the premise of the negation of self-sufficiency that continues to evolve resiliently at its margins. The adoption of a neo-liberal model of development during the 1990s, completely bypasses the realities of Mozambican society. This paper argues that the strategy of self-production of space regarding the household/Outdoor Domestic Space unit, which existed previously as a resistance strategy, first of all against colonialism and secondly, against the statist definition of socialism, thirdly, has become a successful strategy for survival, as the building block of the decentralised Agrocity, in the face of a global economy which totally neglects both the people and the land. Outdoor Domestic Space is a multifaceted space that refers to the external space surrounding the built house and which, in the case of Mozambique, is where daily life takes place, involving strong social, ecological and productive functions. Under successive periods of political economy oppression and environmental adversity, the Outdoor Domestic Space has been adapted and refined to ensure collective self-reliance. Shaping a green and ruralised urbanisation at the margins of the Mozambican post-colonial dualistic city, which I call the Agrocity, the Outdoor Domestic Space is resilient because it is able to adjust domestic space as a strategy to secure livelihoods, provide urban food, commerce and services, maintain vital kinship relationships and produce a comfortable and clean microclimate across the spontaneous neighbourhoods. This spatial resilience is the feature underlying the self-organisation of neighbourhoods with a new way of overcoming alienation from nature, which suggest the continuance of a

Veronese, Marília Veríssimo;Guareschi, Pedrinho;
Psicologia & Sociedade , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-71822005000200009
Abstract: the paper discusses the insertion of critical social psychology in the field of solidary economy, as a laboral setting able to constitute singularized ways of working. for that, it briefly reviews the field of associative and cooperative labor, relating it with the issues of subjectivity and contemporaneity. it questions the emancipatory references of critical social sciences, specially psychology, raising the need of the cartography of new maps to outline the labyrinth of contemporaneity, with its ambiguities and possibilities, analyzing an empirical register taken by the field of cooperative system based on solidarity. finally, it raises the need of a progressist agenda for psychology, when inserted in this specific reality of the labor world.
