Nutrición Hospitalaria , 2008,
Abstract: background and objective: to adjust the impact factor (if) provided by the institute for scientific information (isi) is necessary for improving bibliometric analysis among the various areas of knowledge. our objective was to evaluate two parameters (the maximum and the median value of each subject area) for if adjustment using the original (not corrected) if as the reference method in a tertiary hospital biomedical investigation model. material and method: we retrieved articles from hospital universitario "del río hortega" from valladolid (spain) for the period 1999-2004 as data source. we have describe the characteristics of the followed if distributions: if corrected by the maximum value (ifcormax), if corrected by the median value (ifcormed) and if without adjustments (if). besides, we have analyzed both the inter-annual and the inter-subject differences obtained by the three methods. results: the three analyzed if series shown not normal distributions that are positively skewed. the if adjusted by the median showed the highes coefficient of variation (cv = 357.3%). the if adjusted by the maximum value increased the "weight" of journals with the highest not corrected if for each subject category. inter-annual differences were similarly estimated by the three methods. the if adjusted by the median increased the inter-subject difference from 7.3% to 12.4%. conclusions: our results suggests that if adjusted by the maximum value of each discipline is the best method to correct the isi-if values, because journals with the high if are always rewarded, while if adjusted by the median infra-estimated most of them.

Abstract:

This study aimed to analyze the references of articles with the approach to Health Education, published in Brazilian journals of nursing classified as Qualis Nursing A1 and A2. Descriptive study. Setting: SciELO library. We analyzed the references of 113 articles which were used to study the theoretical and methodological framework of bibliometrics, which aimed to promote subsidies for obtaining evaluation indicators of production, contributing to the expansion of scientific knowledge produced and disseminated among authors and researchers in nursing science. The main results showed the prevalence of article such as document most often quoted, references with 5-9 years of temporality, from Brazil and in Portuguese. The journals most frequently used were the Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem e a Revista Latino Americana de Enfermagem. Provided a vision of what is being referenced in nursing publications in Brazil, with regard to the Health Education.

Informetria: explorando bases de dados como instrumentos de análise
Wormell, Irene;
Ciência da Informa??o , 1998, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-19651998000200016
Abstract: this paper gives a sample of the research programmes of the centre for informetric studies, copenhaguen. it also describes informetrics as a sub-field of bibliometrics, discussing its new approach, i.e., the combination of advanced information retrieval theories and methodologies with the scientific study of information flows. the centre aims to apply bibliometric methods not only to scientometric studies and research evaluations of science and technology, but also to the analysis of their societal, industrial and other special relations. this means an extension of the traditional bibliometric analyses to cover non-scholarly communities in which information is produced, communicated and used. the author also appeals to lis professionals to face the challenge of this new area of quantitative studies, learning to explore databases also as a tool to carry out analytical work, emphasizing the possibilities for those professionals to raise their positions in the information work hierarchies, as well as to explore informetric techniques to support the management of decisions and policy making.

Natural Resources (NR) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/nr.2013.41A017
Abstract:

A significant structural change in the pattern of economic development in Asian economies has been observed in recent years. We have seen many cases in which the Asian economies became the center of the world-wide production in an extremely short period of time after a new product entered the market. Also in the science, the number of papers written by Asian researchers has been increasing dramatically. In this situation, the existing studies cannot sufficiently explain the driving force and the mechanism of catch-up or economic growth. Therefore, it is now required to model this new type of economic development. In this paper we analyzed their scientific catch-up status using scientific papers on solar cells to clarify the structural change. After mid 1990s, knowledge creation has been accelerated in the field of solar cell. Now more than three thousand papers are published annually. We found as a result that the catch-up process in Asian economies had progressed rapidly, that some economies had a larger share of scientific papers in the frontier field of advanced science than in the matured fields, and that the strategy largely changed from area to area. A parallel-running-type growth model has thus been emerging in Asia. Responding to the significant changes in development model, we have to re-design the framework of economic cooperation. There is a need for further horizontal collaboration among major Asian economies and developed

Creative Education (CE) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2015.66057
Abstract: Problem-based learning (PBL) has been systematized for over forty years. However, there is still a lack of studies that seek to visualize the evolution of scientific literature on the subject. This paper seeks to fill this gap through the development of a bibliometric analysis by carrying out a data search on the Web of Science? database and subsequently transferring the acquired data for treatment to the VantagePoint? software package. The data indicate that research on PBL shows a strong progression since the end of the twentieth century, with a high volume of the most impacting studies being carried out by a group of researchers who are currently linked to or used to be connected to the Maastricht University. As a result of these studies, a geographical (from North America and Europe to Asia) and academic (from research in medical education to other biomedical and engineering areas) spread of scientific production regarding this teaching methodology has arisen.

Vera-Villarroel,Pablo; López-López,Wilson; Lillo,Sebastián; Silva,Luis Manuel;
Revista Latinoamericana de Psicología , 2011,
Abstract: science production is one of the critical factors for country development. in latin america, science development indicators in terms of publications and impact are traditionally far from the standards in countries with further scientific and technological development. these indicators, both in general and in psychology, were evaluated in this study, through an analysis of latin- american productivity of scientific articles between 1996 and 2008 in scopus and web of science databases. macro-trends that guided the development of science and psychology in countries and institutions were identified, as the scientific impact of the publications. results suggest that brazil, mexico, argentina, chile and colombia have the best indicators in terms of production and impact, both in science and psychology. chile, argentina and brazil are the most productive countries per million inhabitants.
