Pornografía hardcore: espejo siniestro del patriarcado
Lore Aresti
The specialization index of a variety over a discretely valued field
Lore Kesteloot,Johannes Nicaise
Mathematics , 2015,
Abstract: Let $X$ be a proper variety over a henselian discretely valued field. An important obstruction to the existence of a rational point on $X$ is the index, the minimal positive degree of a zero cycle on $X$. This paper introduces a new invariant, the specialization index, which is a closer approximation of the existence of a rational point. We provide an explicit formula for the specialization index in terms of an $snc$-model, and we give examples of curves where the index equals one but the specialization index is different from one, and thus explains the absence of a rational point. Our main result states that the specialization index of a smooth, proper, geometrically connected $\mathbb{C}((t))$-variety with trivial coherent cohomology is equal to one.
Neural Substrates of Visual Spatial Coding and Visual Feedback Control for Hand Movements in Allocentric and Target-Directed Tasks

Frontiers in Human Neuroscience , 2011, DOI: 10.3389/fnhum.2011.00092
Abstract: Neuropsychological evidence suggests that different brain areas may be involved in movements that are directed at visual targets (e.g., pointing or reaching), and movements that are based on allocentric visual information (e.g., drawing or copying). Here we used fMRI to investigate the neural correlates of these two types of movements in healthy volunteers. Subjects (n = 14) performed right hand movements in either a target-directed task (moving a cursor to a target dot) or an allocentric task (moving a cursor to reproduce the distance and direction between two distal target dots) with or without visual feedback about their hand movement. Movements were monitored with an MR compatible touch panel. A whole brain analysis revealed that movements in allocentric conditions led to an increase in activity in the fundus of the left intra-parietal sulcus (IPS), in posterior IPS, in bilateral dorsal premotor cortex (PMd), and in the lateral occipital complex (LOC). Visual feedback in both target-directed and allocentric conditions led to an increase in activity in area MT+, superior parietal–occipital cortex (SPOC), and posterior IPS (all bilateral). In addition, we found that visual feedback affected brain activity differently in target-directed as compared to allocentric conditions, particularly in the pre-supplementary motor area, PMd, IPS, and parieto-occipital cortex. Our results, in combination with previous findings, suggest that the LOC is essential for allocentric visual coding and that SPOC is involved in visual feedback control. The differences in brain activity between target-directed and allocentric visual feedback conditions may be related to behavioral differences in visual feedback control. Our results advance the understanding of the visual coordinate frame used by the LOC. In addition, because of the nature of the allocentric task, our results have relevance for the understanding of neural substrates of magnitude estimation and vector coding of movements.

Estudios y perspectivas en turismo , 2012,
Abstract: this article was developed understanding "that sometimes different cities follow on the same site and have the same name, born and die without knowing" (ítalo calvino, 1990 - the invisible cities). the research has a phenomenological-qualitative character using the social representation of natal-rn from the perspective of tourists and residents, believing that they have disparate experiences in the urban. the objective is to realize a reflection of segregation and tourism (poverty-richness, center-periphery) discussing about the dissimilarity between the city of natal and "sun city", studying videos produced by residents (local documentary "as ruas do rio"- 2009) and tourists (videos posted on the internet - 2007 to 2010). by a comparative analysis of the realities of these two subjects, the research shows a few similarities and many differences in the representation of the city, showing the existence of two extreme and distinct realities, unjust and unequal reflection of a recurrent model in brazil, with governmental performance that focuses socio and spatial actions on specific areas (tourism).

Abstract: Nursing administration, as an integrated part of the complex health area system, needs to confront and to respond to the challenges that are imposed by the quality and excellence imperatives from service assistance organizations in order to satisfy the users’ expectations and values. From this evidence on, it is originated the need of reviewing old paradigms and adopting new ways of think and act that permit, by inclusion and participation, the development of a creative team (through new ideas, innovations, adaptations and implementations) aiming at trouble solutions and services optimization. In this article, it is intended to demonstrate the lateral thinking and resilience contributions as important instruments to be used in the facilita-tion process of nursing administration.
Caminos entre el río y el mar: Residentes y turistas en zonas y realidades dispares "Cidade do Sol" - Natal - RN (Brasil) Roads Between a River and the Sea: Residents and Tourists in Different Areas and Realities of "The Sun City" - Natal / RN, Brazil

This article was developed understanding "that sometimes different cities follow on the same site and have the same name, born and die without knowing" (ítalo Calvino, 1990 - The Invisible Cities).
LLNet: A Deep Autoencoder Approach to Natural Low-light Image Enhancement

Computer Science , 2015,
Abstract: In surveillance, monitoring and tactical reconnaissance, gathering the right visual information from a dynamic environment and accurately processing such data are essential ingredients to making informed decisions which determines the success of an operation. Camera sensors are often cost-limited in ability to clearly capture objects without defects from images or videos taken in a poorly-lit environment. The goal in many applications is to enhance the brightness, contrast and reduce noise content of such images in an on-board real-time manner. We propose a deep autoencoder-based approach to identify signal features from low-light images handcrafting and adaptively brighten images without over-amplifying the lighter parts in images (i.e., without saturation of image pixels) in high dynamic range. We show that a variant of the recently proposed stacked-sparse denoising autoencoder can learn to adaptively enhance and denoise from synthetically darkened and noisy training examples. The network can then be successfully applied to naturally low-light environment and/or hardware degraded images. Results show significant credibility of deep learning based approaches both visually and by quantitative comparison with various popular enhancing, state-of-the-art denoising and hybrid enhancing-denoising techniques.

Abstract: Background The Notch signaling pathway is an evolutionary conserved signal transduction pathway involved in embryonic patterning and regulation of cell fates during development and self-renewal. Recent studies have demonstrated that this pathway is integral to a complex system of interactions, involving as well other signal transduction pathways, and implicated in distinct human diseases. Delta-like 1 (Dll1) is one of the known ligands of the Notch receptors. The role of the Notch ligands is less well understood. Loss-of-function of Dll1 leads to embryonic lethality, but reduction of Delta-like 1 protein levels has not been studied in adult stage. Methodology/Principal Findings Here we present the haploinsufficient phenotype of Dll1 and a missense mutant Dll1 allele (Dll1C413Y). Haploinsufficiency leads to a complex phenotype with several biological processes altered. These alterations reveal the importance of Dll1 mainly in metabolism, energy balance and in immunology. The animals are smaller, lighter, with altered fat to lean ratio and have increased blood pressure and a slight bradycardia. The animals have reduced cholesterol and triglyceride levels in blood. At the immunological level a subtle phenotype is observed due to the effect and fine-tuning of the signaling network at the different levels of differentiation, proliferation and function of lymphocytes. Moreover, the importance of the proteolytic regulation of the Notch signaling network emphasized. Conclusions/Significance In conclusion, slight alterations in one player of Notch signaling alter the entire organism, emphasizing the fine-tuning character of this pathway in a high number of processes.
